Inflamed gums are extended or prominent gums that protrude in an abnormal way.  The inflammation of the gums is quite frequent and can involve one or more buds.

Sometimes, the gums get considerably inflamed, completely covering the tooth.

Some common causes include:

  • Gingivitis
  • Infection by a virus or fungus
  • Malnutrition
  • Poorly adjusted dental prosthetics
  • Pregnancy
  • Sensitivity to toothpaste or mouth rinse

A home remedy that can help in treating inflamed gums is an infusion of ragwort.  Add a tsp of crushed ragwort herb to a cup of cold water.  Warm it up and remove from the heat.  Let seep 10-15 minutes.  Drink one cup 2-3 times daily.
