Your baby keeps moving in your belly although she still hasn’t positioned herself upside down, as she will in the coming weeks. Her head keeps growing to adapt to her fast growing brain and now she spends much of its time opening and closing her eyes.

Your baby keeps moving in your belly although she still hasn’t positioned herself upside down, as she will in the coming weeks. Her head keeps growing to adapt to her fast growing brain and now she spends much of its time opening and closing her eyes. Your baby’s hair has grown enough as to be able to see it in a sonogram or ultrasound if she happens to have a lot.

The lanugo, the thin layer of hair that covered her body to protect her from the liquid environment in which she’s been, has started to disappear. This thin layer of hair, along with other waste is being swallowed by your baby and is accumulating in her bowels, forming meconium. Meconium is the dark feces which you will see in her first soiled diaper. The amniotic fluid, although it still surrounds your baby, is starting to decrease in volume.

Your baby weighs now about three pounds or a kilogram and three hundred grams and measures almost 16 inches or 40 centimeters.
